When assembling flexible copper busbars, such as our Isoflexx® busbars, it is particularly important that the drill holes are accurate to the millimetre. Incorrect or inaccurate drill holes can lead to contact problems, increased resistance and, in the worst case, failures. Our SPS drilling templates are the ideal tool for drilling these holes with precision. They help you to drill holes quickly and easily, but above all without errors.

Using the drilling templates

Instructions

Our drilling templates make drilling Isoflexx® flexible busbars much easier. Here’s how it works:

  1. To create a connection, you first need to expose a sufficient contact area. This means cutting away the insulation from the copper lamellae all the way round using a sharp knife. Use a cutting mat and gloves for protection.

  2. The hole can now be drilled using a suitable drill bit.

  3. After drilling, loosen the drilling templates again at the nut. If any burrs have formed, you can remove them afterwards with a hand deburrer.

  4. Once the copper plates are exposed, the next step is to drill the holes. To avoid fanning out, you should use our drilling templates. Our drilling templates are designed to match the width of the respective Isoflexx® lamellae. Therefore, always choose the appropriate size for your Isoflexx® variant to ensure an optimal fit and functionality.

  5. First clamp the drilling template into a screw clamp and check that it is secure.

  6. Place the Isoflexx® bar with the stripped end in the drilling template.

  7. Tighten the nut on the drilling template. When drilling, make sure that the Isoflexx® lamellae are pressed together.
